With metric rectangular connectors into the new millennium

In Germany the long established steel conduit thread - known as PG system - will be replaced by the internationally valid metric system. This conversion mainly applies to cable glands, line entrances and housings for rectangular connectors in general
The basis for this conversion is the international metric standard DIN EN 60423. As of 1 January 2000 the new standard DIN EN 50262 becomes valid. The PG system may be utilized in the transition period up until 1 March 2001. From this due date no conformity declaration will be given for PG housings and cable glands as the relevant safety standards will be withdrawn.
The PG range PG 7 to PG 48 will be replaced by the metric range M 12 to M 63.

Surface mount bases, hoods and cable connector hoods are affected by the conversion of the rectangular connector housings.
