Product Description in General:
The family of interfaces LCON realizes an active coupling of two-wire RS485 bus systems with fiber optics data transmission segments.
For automation tasks (e.g. with PROFIBUS) located inside a cabinet (IP 20 environment) data can be transmitted, as an option to copper cabling, via fiber optics. The field bus participant has, as a rule, an electric interface RS485 and the connectors are D-Sub with 9-pins.
For optical networking, the arriving signals must be converted at the bus field device (electric cabinet, box, SPS) into electrical signals and the signals leaving the bus participant into optical ones. The LCON medium converter performs this task. The product family LCON consists of different types, which were designed to meet practical needs (e.g. fiber optics radius of action, max. data rate, networking structure demands)
Technically they differ in:
- The number of fiber optics channels (1 or 2)
- Kind of fiber for the optical way (plastic, respectively glass multimode)
- The electronic components designed in (transmitter/receiver)
- The fiber optics connectors (Hewlett-Packard Versatile Link, F-ST, F-SMA)
