EPIC BUS- Date-Line powered RS485/RS422 Fiber-Optic System


1. Introduction

The EPIC RS485 fiber optic system is designed to give you error free

data transmission of one data channel with full-duplex operation in

harsh industrial environments. Drawing all necessary operating power

from the RS485/ RS422 interface, the system supports data rates to

1Mbit/s and link lengths to 50 m using low cost 1 mm polymer optical

fiber (POF).

3. Application

 

With all the advantages of optical fibers - EMI/RFI and transient

immunity, data security, DC isolation: the system is a cost effective

solution for all applications requiring RS485/RS422 signal integrity in

noisy environments. Picture 2 shows the block diagram of the electronic

circuitry.

 

 

 

4. Installation

 

- Connect your units with the patch cable.    

  See picture 3 for connector pin configuration.

- Though the system is hot plugable, make sure
  that all equipment is off power to avoid
  electrical damage during installation.

- Check all connections for correct configuration.

- Power up your system
